Noted Seattle Attorney and Legal Business Executive Now Providing Brokerage Services

SEATTLE – Jan. 26, 2015 – Justin D. Farmer, a noted Seattle attorney, and legal business executive, has launched Private Practice Transitions, Inc., providing business consulting and brokerage services to legal, healthcare, and financial professional services firm owners interested in transferring ownership of their practices. A particular challenge for successful firm owners when deciding to sell is finding a buyer with whom they can have the confidence to take care of valued clients and staff. Additionally, the majority of firm owners don’t understand the value their practices hold in the market, and Farmer provides expert valuation services to ensure a sales price appropriately recognizes firm value. His counsel and sale facilitation services ensure a firm’s clients’ goodwill is passed on to new owners and creates career opportunities for younger professionals who benefit from the wealth of knowledge that is transferred.

His services include: performing a small business physical; valuating the practice; developing a strategy and timeline for transitioning the business; readying the business for market; identifying, prescreening, and qualifying potential buyer(s); and structuring and closing the deal. Attention is paid not just to the sales price, but to fit – including the nature of the practice, culture, and employee strengths.

As a licensed attorney and real estate broker, Farmer is well equipped to effectively negotiate and facilitate the sale of a professional services firm. He is well connected in the Puget Sound region, and as an independent legal practitioner, understands ownership issues and needs. In addition to running his law practice, Farmer has also served at the Director level of a large consulting company, where he oversaw business development initiatives and the coordination of legal projects for law firms and corporate legal departments.

Farmer’s additional experience includes serving as Assistant Attorney General, Torts Division for the Attorney General of Washington. He has been featured as a guest speaker for various programs, including for the Washington State Bar Association, Puget Sound Business Journal, and Association of Corporate Counsel.

Farmer currently serves as a Board Member for the Seattle University Alumni Association and has also served on the Board of the Kamukamu Learning Foundation. He received his J.D. from Seattle University School of Law, and a B.A. in Business from the University of Washington.
